The Center is located at LAC+University of Southern California Medical Center and is in close proximity to key partner agencies. Although the Center will be open daily, the core team members will initially meet for one half-day per week to begin multidisciplinary case-review and planning meetings. The meetings will consist of the following core members: geriatrician; neuropsychologist; district attorney; city attorney; law enforcement; Los Angeles County Adult Protective Services; Genesis; Victim-Witness Assistance Program; Bet Tzedek Legal Services; Office of the Public Guardian; and Ombudsman. Additional members from the Coroner's Office and the Regional Center will be invited to attend meetings on a case-by-case basis. Once a case is discussed, an action plan will be developed and will focus on three key areas: 1) to ensure the safety of the victim and their property; 2) to collect comprehensive and accurate information needed for prosecution; and 3) to support the victim.

Key activities will include forensic evaluation and documentation, neuropsychologiocal testing, taped victim interviews, education and training. Furthermore, the Center will look beyond the legal and evidentiary components of these cases and support the elders and vulnerable adults by assisting with access to medical care, counseling, victim services, social services, and support. Medical forensic examinations and neuropsychological testing will be performed through the APT Clinic or in the home as needed.

The anticipated outcomes are in the following areas: case processing and outcomes, victim outcomes, education and training, and elder abuse research. The processing of difficult cases will be more streamlined and the cases referred will receive a complete evaluation. Victims' lives will be positively impacted as the Center will allow for more thorough evaluations of cases and much needed support to be provided to the victim.
